Use ICA's checklist as the source
Document requirements depend on the applicant category and the people included in the application. Always download the current checklist from ICA before preparing the file. A saved copy from an earlier application may be outdated.
Common records include passport or travel-document details, birth and marriage records where applicable, education certificates and transcripts, employment records and recent payslips. The checklist identifies which records are required from the main applicant, spouse, children or sponsor.
Employment and business records
For employed applicants, ICA's checklist includes a current employer letter stating the occupation, employment date and monthly basic and gross salary, together with six months of payslips.
Self-employed applicants should check the current requirements for business registration and financial statements. Foreign-issued tax or business records may also be requested depending on the applicant's circumstances.
ICA may request additional documents beyond those listed in the checklist.
Documents that are not in English
ICA requires official translations for documents in other languages. It accepts translations provided by the issuing country's embassy, a notary public in Singapore or the issuing country, or a private translation that has been properly attested or notarised as described by ICA.
Keep the original-language document with its translation. Do not upload only the translated text unless ICA's instructions expressly allow it.
Check the file before submission
Use readable colour scans and confirm that no page is cut off. Names, dates, job titles, salary figures and family details should agree across the application and supporting records. If a document has changed, use the current version.
Do not alter an official document to make details match. Explain genuine differences accurately and provide supporting records where appropriate.
Current ICA fees and processing time
ICA currently charges S$100 for each PR application at submission. Successful applicants are charged S$20 for the Entry Permit, S$50 for a five-year Re-Entry Permit and S$50 for the Singapore Identity Card. ICA states that fees are non-refundable.
PR applications are generally processed within six months when all required documents are submitted and in order. Some applications may take longer.
